Apex is the world’s only source of analysed, real-time global seaborne oil trade and tanker movements.
The Apex (Analysis of Petroleum Exports) database is a dynamic, user friendly system that’s updated twice weekly. It contains port specific accounts of all crude laden voyages in tankers over 10,000 dwt, as well as all product laden voyages in tanker over 60,000 dwt.
Apex is the only reliable and impartial way to monitor petroleum and tanker trade as it takes place. Our data comes from a variety of independent sources, including a worldwide network of Lloyd’s Agents, port authorities, ship owners, classification societies, brokers and oil industry sources. Lloyd’s List Intelligence’s globally deployed network of AIS (Automatic Identification System) receivers gives our analysts the ability to monitor tanker movements both in port and at sea, in real time. Ensuring we provide you with immediate and verified market intelligence, from both a global and local perspective.
Key features include:
- Laden tanker movements by port of load/discharge – the latest laden voyages, loads and discharges from individual voyage/vessel level to aggregated totals, broken down by region and port.
- Export and import oil volumes by port of load and discharge – map actual trade volumes down to individual port level. Apex links voyages to spot/time charterers, private owners and consignee data in order to identify actual volumes shipped by specific companies/operators.
- Oil in transit by origin, destination and vessel type – latest oil on the water data allows you to assess the volume of crude about to hit key markets, up to 6 weeks ahead.
- Ballast voyages by origin, destination, vessel type and previous charter history – latest ballast information enables users to see volume of tonnage ballasting to key load areas with expected arrival dates, up to 5 weeks ahead.
- Charter fixture details linked to actual voyages – linking extensive charter fixture data to vessel movement data Apex identifies charter fixtures which actually take place.
- Oil trade analysis by region and country – Apex data lets you analyse key market trends months before official data is released.
- Tanker deployment analysis by size, range and trade route – deployment and tonne mile statistics give crucial insight into past, present and changing trends in the shipping market.
- Extensive, friendly database query functions – quickly sort and filter any of the 60+ fields; produce complex tabular analysis to aggregate data, graph and export data to other applications.
- Historical Oil on the Water function – allowing you to calculate daily, weekly or monthly OOW volumes by vessel size, trade route or other user defined criteria. Giving you a unique reflection on historical oil trades.
